                                               Abstract Feathered Sun Quilt

Food for thought.. Give this craft a try..

*Preserving our past: Heirloom quilt project idea!*

The picture above is a quilt square from my familys heirloom quilt (made by my great-great grandmothers) that was upcycled into a wall hanging. It was framed in a shadow box. It could also be turned into a handbag. This is a project that my mother bravely and creatively worked on (taking apart an antique family quilt is a little gut wrenching). It was the inspiration for the abstract feathers sun quilt above.

umm.. can I +1 myself?

In the mean time... check me out!

Need to go find something to Blog (a.k.a obsess) about... fool.

Fool

n . A person with a talent or enthusiasm for a certain activity: Like crafting. Traditional crafts. That have faded.

Obsession: riding the hobby horse...

..obsession: ride a hobbyhorse To pursue a favorite project or idea relentlessly and unceasingly; to be obsessed with a single notion or scheme.

A hobbyhorse was the term given to a wickerwork horselike frame used in the old Morris dances, as well as to the stick toy with a horse’s head ridden in mock fashion by children. The expression originally meant to play an infantile game of which one soon tired, since riding such a hobbyhorse involved little more than monotonous repetition of unvaried movements. In the 1700s John Wesley referred to hobbyhorse as “the cant term of the day.”

We will be riding the hobby horse.

Not a real horse. Or a wicker horse. Although, I have learned to ride horses (real ones) and, theoretically, could teach it..but.. I'm possessive of my horses. Kind of like a possessive girlfriend. Without the making out.

Stop. (Thinking about me) making out with the horse. Really now.

Off to jump on the hobbyhorse.

The origins of a name. Of a blog. Some of this will even be true!

The beginning. A word. A name. Faded Traditions. Two words, technically. Or should I make it one word? Why the F*ck is the font so big?? Problem solving is stressful...

Stress. Less. Now.

Stressless. Is that a word?

*huhmmm* (throat clearing).. in case you were wondering.

No. I did not pass out on the keyboard. I'm saving that stunt for later. Whiskey needs to be part of the stunt forming equation, and..sadly..it is not. Yet. Back to using ..words..

Fade
v. fad·ed

1. To disappear gradually; vanish: a skill that faded.

tra·di·tion
n.

1. The passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation, especially by oral communication: cultural practices that are preserved by tradition.

Preserving cultural and generational skills. ..before they vanish.

That, in a nut shell, is what we will be thinking about, and hopefully, learning about.

The writing process. For me. Yes. Now you see why it's ..um.. fun being me. Or hard. I don't really know.

Later. (Stunt forming time).
